I think our buoy is jinxed
First a PSA - Two boats have broken off their buoys and turtled. Numbers #144 and #108. They are upside down and tied to buoy 144. Now you know.
I went down to the lake tonight to check on the boat. We had a big blow in Minneapolis today, with gusts to 40mph out of the NW. Our boat was fine, but two neighboring boats (both scows) broke off their mooring and turtled. Both of the hulls were inside of our boat's swing, and were hitting hitting us on swings of wind to the North. Bad Deal!
It was getting dark, but we had to go out in our inflatable to see what we could do. It was nasty. Dark, rain, and big wind. And two upside-down boats ramming our hull. Long story short, I managed to drag the two boats to an empty buoy and tie them off. The owners will have to sort out the mess over the next several days. Later this week, I'll do a piece on the best way to make a pocket cruiser fast to buoy. (ED: I finally did, and its HERE) Now I'm trying to warm up. And, I'll will be looking for a new buoy next year, this one seems jinxed.
