No change in Lake Harriet concessions this year

Sailors get hungry, and with our smaller boats, no one wants to prepare food all of the time on-board. That's one of the reasons I have been a little envious of the Lake Calhoun sailors lately, they have the amazing Tin Fish restaurant right off their dock. The Tin Fish easily whips up the Twin Cities' best fish tacos, while we on Lake Harriet have to make do with some rather ordinary snack-bar fare.

Last year, the MPRB formed a Citizen's Advisory Council (CAC) to investigate how to add a high-quality food service to Lake Harriet, and their report was delivered last month. In a nut-shell, they recommended that the existing structure COULD be re-tasked to house both a high quality food service (a la Tin Fish) and basic concessions, mainly by eliminating the central breezeway. I'm personally all for this. Having great eating right off the dock would be a huge plus to Lake Harriet sailing. There is also another post on eating while sailing on the site HERE.

The MPRB is reviewing the report in detail, but has stated that there will be no change in Lake Harriet concessions this year.

I'm not sure we could expect to get something like the Tin Fish. I'm assuming the location at lake Calhoun has a LOT more foot traffic due to its proximity to the uptown district. But it's a nice thought..

A copy of the CAC's report summary is HERE.
