Lake Announcements and Alerts

As mentioned at the buoy drawing meeting, CruisingLakeHarriet is going to provide an alert/ announcement service to any interested sailors on Minneapolis lakes. All you have to do is subscribe to the CLH mailing list, and provide your sailing lake, and optionally your buoy number. This information, which will be kept private, will be used to selectivity send you emails regarding your lake. This may include informational updates, or alerts regarding safety and security of boats. You can sign up for the mailing lists now. There is also a form that will allow sailors to post information that will be shared to the other sailors on the respective lakes. This can include everything from gathering announcements, lost and found, to security reports. You can subscribe in the right column, under Sign Up For updates, or simply follow this link HERE

Also, if you use Twitter, I will make every effort to tweet out alerts. I only use Twitter on this site to announce site updates and do alerts, so you will not be bombarded with tweets. At least not from me.

  1. The Lake Harriet Yacth Club operates a web cam of the lake on our web site: lhycsailing.com Check it out.

It's great to check out the conditions remotely. We are planning on getting a second web cam going to show a different angle.

Besides racing we also support the Adaptive Sailing program for disabled sailors and the Opti program for young sailors. More information is on the web site.

  3. John,

Thx for the post. Great to hear about the second cam. As you can see, I have the current still image from you cam on my home page, and a link to the live imagery as well. Let me know more about the 2nd cam as it comes more real.

  4. Jefferson,

What a great offer. Did you really mean that for everyone? If you see a boat in distress, it might be easier on you to send the blog an email, and then it will send out an alert. But your call!
