Spinnaker Sailing!

A lot of people have made nice comments about Jackdaw flying her spinnaker this year, so thanks! It is a beautiful thing to see on the lake, a sailboat powering downwind with a large colorful unstayed sail flying. I have it rigged so I can fly it with just me on board, but it's a lot of work! Not so much effort, but lots of lines and tasks to manage. It's much better when someone else is on board to drive while I go set the sail. Some of the details: The sail is a so-called asymmetrical spinnaker, being that is has district luff and leach sides. This means that it flies without a pole. It also means that it can be jibed from the cockpit, with the sail turning 'inside-out' as you swing through the wind. Mine also uses a sock, which you can see at the top of the sail. This sock covers and uncovers the sail when hoisting or dousing, which allows that to be a one person job. Anyone else with a spin? I'd love to see more on the lakes!
